Red zone seems to have become the leitmotif in every conversation!

Yet, avoiding getting caught up in the psychosis of codiv-19 must remain our primary goal.

How shall we turn gathering bans, suspension of cultural, sporting, recreational, trade fair, religious events into an opportunity for us wine lovers?

Here is the answer:

Let’s take some time for us. Let’s treat ourselves to a bottle that we have long wanted to taste, let’s have fun creating culinary combinations, venture into combinations we would haven’t dared otherwise.  In short, we do not set limits to our imagination!

I might be wondering how to get hold of a bottle with the ban: get it delivered.  So, what is important is drinking good wine and you can do it by following our suggestions or by simply getting yourself carried away by your enthusiasm.

A bottle of good red wine

Let’s start with a wine that thanks to its warm flavours makes us feel pampered: a Taurasi DOCG. Produced with Aglianico grapes in 17 municipalities of Irpinia with the municipality of Taurasi at the center, it must undergo a mandatory aging period of at least three years, of which at least one in wooden barrels (for the “reserve” type four years, of which at least eighteen months in wooden barrels). It is a long-lived wine that improves over the years, and for this reason we recommend choosing a bottle with a few years of aging that will give intense emotions. Its structure and its characteristic tannins will allow, or rather require, a dish in succulent combination and with a good aroma, such as long-cooked, braised red meats, but also aged cheeses.

A surprising white wine

If on a beautiful sunny day you prefer to sip a white wine, you can take two “paths”: the search for freshness or the discovery of intense minerality.

Aversa’s Asprinio is definitely what you need if you love freshness and drinkability in a wine. This DOC produced both in still and sparkling version with sour grape in the province of Caserta, gives a pleasant sensation of freshness that goes well with fish dishes. The sparkling version can be accompanied by a fish fry, while the firm goes perfectly with a good Buffalo Mozzarella.

If you prefer mineral notes in a white wine,  Fiano di Avellino DOCG is a must. Produced in the province of Avellino (Lapio is the best expression) with Fiano grape, it is a wine that amazes for its incredible ability to age. Its fragrant note of hazelnut, linden, chamomile, acacia together with the “minerality” up to smoky notes when left to age, makes it the perfect glass for fish dishes with a more elaborate structure.

So in this period of preventive measures … let’s protect ourselves with a good and unforgettable glass of the wine we love most!
